Silver glitter plant

This DIY project was a hard one to accomplish but I think it turned out pretty well. I first found the silver pot that I have this in around my house and I thought was a perfect idea to get a fake plant and spray it silver to match the pot and that would be a good Christmas decoration. I went out and bought a fake plant and some silver glitter spray paint. That was a hard thing to track down but I was determined to find it. After spraying it with the silver glitter I then sprayed it with hairspray because if you are using glitter and it keeps shedding than hairspray will keep it on. I spray it often just to keep all the glitter on.

Tinsel Wreath

This wreath is one that I actually made so this one takes a little more time than all the other projects. I took wire and formed it into a circle and then did the same thing and made a bigger circle around it and did that again. I got the color tinsel I wanted to use and wrapped it around the wire multiple times. It took a lot of tries to get this wreath looking this good. You need a lot of tinsel and than I bought those colored lights at Five below because I thought they would be cuter than the different colored lights that people usually use.

Candle holder with tinsel

This is a cute and easy way to dress up your kitchen or where ever you would want to put this with Christmas decorations. I got this candle holder from Pier 1 Imports and I used this same candle holder for another blog post I did back in October with pumpkin fillers inside for Thanksgiving. I just took those out and took this white candle with glitter on it and put it there and I took tinsel and put it down inside the stem and halfway around the candle. It's a simple and cheap way to make a normal candle holder into Christmas decorations!

Wine glass tea light holder

This is a cute easy way to make a tea light candle holder. The first thing you need to do is get a wine glass that you are not worried about getting ruined. The second is you get spray on glitter and some fake snow which if you followed my last blog post you should still have some left! All you have to do is use spray fake snow and while that was wet I put glitter on. You don't have to use a tea light because in this picture that is a small size candle but which ever you prefer.

Wine glass candle holder (Christmas decor)

This is a cute and easy way to make decoration for Christmas time! You just take a wine glass and flip it upside down and take a candle(of your color choice) and put it on top. But before you do all of that you need to get little snowman figurines or any of your choice and some fake snow to put inside the wine glass to make it look like a snow globe. You can add the bells and ribbon if you like, I just thought it was a cute touch!

LED lights in lantern

This was a hard thing to get a picture of but this is a lantern that has LED battery operated lights inside of it. I don't like using candles inside of lanterns because of fire hazard and I also don't like using the LED tea light candles inside either because than you always have to turn them on. Pier 1 Imports sells a 5 ft strand of white lights that has a battery pack on them. I also got this lantern from Pier 1 Imports. I strung the lights up through the bottom where the tea light is supposed to go. I left the battery pack right behind the lantern hidden so all I have to do is hit the button on the battery pack to turn them on. It is a quick decoration for a coffee table or a bathroom. Especially if you have the beach theme going on because I do in my bathroom and bedroom and I have had this in my bathroom for awhile and now it is a decoration on my dresser in my bedroom.

Gem vase floral displays

Have too many vases and floral sets that you don't know what to do with but want cute Fall decorations? Well this is the best way to take care of those problems. You can go to the dollar store and buy some gems (preferably brown or red like the ones shown here because they are Fall colors). Your next step is to put the floral display in the vase before you put the gems in because than the gems can go around the bottoms of the floral display that way all you see if the gems and the top of the floral display. This is a cute way to dress up a side coffee table with Fall decor!

Pumpkin Floral holder

This is a cute idea to dress up a pumpkin for some Fall decor! I just cut the top of a pumpkin off and gutted it and than drenched it in Clorox so that it would not dry out as quick. Than I got Fall floral flower set and put it in side. Than to dress up the out side of the pumpkin decor I got a strand of fake leafs and orange lights to intertwine and set them around the pumpkin! Quick and easy way for cute Fall decor!

Fall Candle Holder decor

This is a quick and easy way to dress up your clear candle holders for some new Fall decor! You just get fake leafs (you can get them from the dollar store) and you just glue them onto a clear candle holder and find the right color candles that you want to use that match the color theme of the room or are Fall colors. You can even put gems on the bottom of the candle that way you can put the leafs a little bit higher on the candle holder without there being a bunch of empty space on the bottom.

Fall picture frames

This is a cute idea for a simple Fall decoration. Just print out letters that spell Fall in different color and different font. The next step is to find different picture frames that blend together. I would chose different colored brown ones because brown is a Fall color. Than the orange lights just make it look better and reflect off of the picture frames.

Bulletin boards

These were just normal bulletin boards that I had bought and wanted to put on the wall to be able to hang things on them. I did not want them to just have the normal brown bulletin board look so I bought fabric from Walmart that matched my room and I wrapped it around them and now I can have empty space and it still look okay because I have a background and it's not just brown.

DIY Halloween decor 2

I have these hanging black shelves in my kitchen and again I was looking for a way to spook up my apartment. I got an extra pack of the fake spider web and I had got the purple lights from again the Dollar store last year around Halloween time. I thought it would be a cute idea to string the lights around this but again it looked too plain with just the lights so I figured it'd be a good idea to string some spider web around it. I also have a pumpkin displayed on the one shelve for the Halloween and Thanksgiving decor. This is an easy fix for Halloween decor if you are looking for cheap DIY ideas for your home!

DIY Halloween decor

So I was wanting to make my apartment a little bit more spooky feeling than just Halloween decor sitting on my coffee table or what not. I had got these candy corn string lights from the Dollar store last year and I did not know where I was going to place them this year. I got the idea to string them around this picture that I have hanging in my living room. I didn't want to stop there because I didn't think it looked spooky enough. Than I figured that buying fake spider web would be a great way to spice up the spookiness in my apartment. It is kind of hard to see in this picture but I have a spider web draped over the picture. It is just enough so that you can still see the picture but it also looks blurry because there is the spider web in front of it. That is an easy way to make your apartment feel spooky during the Halloween holiday!

DIY Coffee Table ideas

I needed something for the middle of my coffee table because I don't think it is attractive when coffee tables are just clear. My roommate actually helped me think of this one because we had the mosaic candle holder in the middle of the coffee table and we thought it was not enough to fill all the space. So we then saw the pumpkins and thought they would look cute around the mosaic candle holder but that we needed something more. That was when we found the flowers and added them in between and at first I thought it was going to be too much because it was stretched crossed the whole coffee table but it actually turned out looking pretty well. These Fall decorations that I have been posting about are ones that can stay up not only through out Halloween but also Thanksgiving which saves a lot of money on decorations in my opinion!

DIY middle table fixture

I thought this was a cute idea for a middle fixture in my dining room table because I wanted it to be Fall décor. I actually bought the bottom wooden plate thing from Pier 1 Imports because I was going to use it when I cooked hot things and used a paper plate so that I wouldn't get burned through the paper plate. My roommate had the candle in the middle of our table because it was orange and pumpkin scented for Fall. I then went out and bought the leafs thinking I was going to do a completely different thing with them but than I wrapped them around the candle and I thought it looked good. I usually put that lamp top on top of candles that are the big Yankee candles that it fits on because it gives it such a better look than just having it open or with the lid on. This is a quick fix for a middle of your dining room table fix when you want some Fall décor.

DIY Candle holder fillers

I know the past couple entries I have wrote have been about these same pumpkin fillers and that is because there was A TON of them in the pack that I had bought from Pier 1 Imports. I thought this was a really good idea for a filler for fall because instead of having all that clear space in the bottom of this candle holder, I thought the brown, tan, red and orange pumpkins went with the gold candle that I had in there. This is sitting on my kitchen counter to add some fall decor to the kitchen.

DIY Fall decoration filler 2

This blog post is very similar to my last post but a totally different concept with the same items. I had mentioned before that I had bought these pumpkin fillers from Pier 1 Imports and this is actually the second place, other than the last blog post I had shown you, that they have been placed because there was many of them. This is actually a candle that I had burned down pretty far (because it is a food network candle and smells AMAZING). The first picture demonstrates the different colored pumpkins in the candle without a tea light inside and it kind of looked a little plain to me but I really liked the idea. I decided to add the LED tea light candle inside because it does not get hot and would not be a fire hazard, I think that it spices up this DIY idea I had for a cute Fall decoration!

DIY Fall decoration fillers

This DIY idea blog post is about how to fill spaces in a different way than they are meant to be used. These wall scones were meant to have tea light candles inside of them but I do not like to light tea light candles in them because they are so close to the wall. So I had bought these pumpkin fillers at Pier 1 Imports and I had placed some of them in a different place originally and I had extras so I took the tea lights out of these glass cups because again I never had lit them and so I figured it would be a good idea to place the pumpkins inside of them. It looks like a cute Fall decoration because you can tell that they are pumpkins inside of the glass cups.

DIY headboard ideas

My first DIY post is going to be about what to do with space that is above your bed if you do not have a headboard. Which a lot of beds now a days do not have headboards with them and you have to buy them separate which most people are not interested in doing. If you have a queen size bed like I do than you would need something big to make up for all that white space that will be above the bed. I first had a big picture that was hanging above my bed when I first moved into my apartment but I did not think that it took up enough space and with my bed being so big and the picture only being half the size as my bed I thought there was too much white space being shown. I had white christmas lights that had a white string... I decided to hang up around my bed...at first I was not going to add the curtains up there but I have the same kind of curtain hanging over my closet as a door and I took it down and put it in front of the lights and I thought it looked really pretty. So than I decided to take the picture I have hanging in the middle there and see what it would look like because the original picture I had hanging would have been to big to be in the middle of the lights. I got hooks that screw into the wall and I screwed them into my ceiling and put the two curtain panels on tension rods and than hung them on the hooks from the ceiling. I was very impressed with my idea of making this my headboard because it is really nice to lay in bed and just have that little bit of light behind you, that way you do not have to turn on a lamp.

Intro to DIY Ideas

Hello,

I wanted to make an introductory blog post before I jumped right into what my blog is going to be about. I am going to be posting about DIY Ideas that you can create when you are feeling creative. Most people just go out and buy decorative items at the store that are already created. My thoughts are why do that when you can just buy the items to make it, which is usually cheaper than actually buying the items after they are created by a company. I know that some people don't have time to do extra activities sometimes but if you do have time than I suggest you follow my blog and find out good DIY ideas to decorate your home/apartment or even your spice up your dorm room to make it feel more at home!
